What is green energy?

Green energy is produced through natural and inexhaustible resources, so the environment is not harmed in its generation, as they do not emit greenhouse gases or other elements that damage the environment, such as CO2. Through certain instruments (windmills, solar panels, hydraulic turbines...) these resources are transformed into energy for domestic and industrial use.

During 2020, 4,015 megawatts of new renewable power were installed in Spain, allowing the national system to reach 62,768 megawatts, according to Red Eléctrica de España (REE). Thus, 43.6% of all energy produced during 2020 came from non-polluting sources.

There are different types of renewable energies with which the electricity that reaches the distribution network is obtained:
energia verde
Wind
It is obtained through the force of the wind by means of the kinetic energy generated by air currents. The mills are responsible for transforming these currents into electricity with the movement of their blades.
Solar
It is obtained from the sun's rays collected through solar panels composed of crystalline silicon or gallium arsenide. A generator converts sunlight into energy.
Hydro
It is obtained through kinetic energy by taking advantage of water currents or falls, either through natural resources, such as waterfalls, or man-made ones, such as dams. The force of the falling water moves turbines connected to electrical generators.
Biomass
It is obtained by burning organic matter in boilers. The combustion caused heats the water until it turns into steam, which moves a turbine connected to an electricity generator.

What is the Certificate of Origin Guarantee?

If you are a FORTULUZ customer, you will be able to certify that the same amount of energy that you have consumed from your supply point has been generated from renewable sources. How? With the Certificate of Origin Guarantee issued by the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC).

Renewable energy producers request from the CNMC a certification of the amount of kWh they have generated during a natural year. From FORTULUZ we contact these renewable energy generation plants and acquire the certificates for the amount of kWh that our customers have consumed. The cost of these certificates is allocated to renovation, maintenance and new creation of renewable energy production plants.

FORTULUZ customers can obtain their Certificate of Origin Guarantee from the CNMC website (CNMC website).
